How It Is Made

Our Lokta paper products are handmade by skilled artisans in Nepal. Lokta paper is crafted from the bark of the Daphne papyracea plant, which grows in the Himalayan foothills. The bark is harvested sustainably (the bushes regenerate quickly), then cooked, beaten, and hand-screened into paper. Each product — wrapping paper, notebook, lamp shade, or greeting card — is hand-finished with traditional Nepali designs.
